Learn ASL While You Work

Our Deaf and hearing staff who are fluent in sign language will be right beside you. Improve your signing and get comfortable communicating with Deaf guests — it's hands-on learning built right into every shift.

Learn Three Signs Before Your First Shift

These three signs say everything about who we are — a café that runs on coffee and community.

☕ Coffee

Make a fist with both hands, stack them, and twist the top hand like you're grinding coffee beans.

Our Workplace Culture

Marina Bay Cafe is a no-voice, no-music environment. We ask all staff to embrace that fully — it's what makes this place special.

No voice between staff

Staff communicate with each other using ASL only. This keeps our environment fully accessible for our Deaf team members and helps everyone grow their signing skills every shift.

Voice with customers is welcome

When serving hearing guests, you're welcome to use your voice. We want every customer to feel comfortable — the no-voice rule applies to staff-to-staff communication only.

No music

We keep the cafe quiet and calm. No background music means a more accessible, focused space for our Deaf community and a more peaceful experience for all guests.

Respect for Deaf culture

You don't need to be Deaf or fluent in ASL to work here — but you do need to be genuinely open to learning and respectful of Deaf culture. We'll guide you every step of the way.

Open Positions

Cafe Team Member

Part-time / Full-time

We're looking for one versatile team member who's comfortable both on the floor and in the kitchen. You'll move between front of house and food prep as needed — greeting guests, taking orders, and helping prepare our menu items. No two shifts are exactly the same, and that's what makes it great.

  • Greet and serve guests with warmth and care
  • Take orders and process payments accurately
  • Prepare food items to recipe and quality standards
  • Keep the dining area and prep stations clean and welcoming
  • Support your teammates during busy rushes
  • Pick up ASL naturally by working with our Deaf team and guests
